After have your new composite door installed, you’ll no doubt want to keep it looking and operating like new. Luckily for you, all Forté doors are easy to maintain. We’ve collated some simple step-by-step guides to help you look after your fantastic new door.
Using warm soapy water clean the frame surfaces once every 4 months. Avoid the use of solvent-based cleaners and abrasive materials.
On an annual basis lubricate the locks, hinges and, if necessary, the handles and door furniture.
Door furniture such as handles, letterboxes, knockers, numerals, letters and spy holes should be cleaned as often as monthly to preserve their condition.
Use mildly concentrated hot soapy water and a soft cloth to wipe surfaces.
Regularly remove any debris found in the threshold and drain holes of the door to ensure that water is kept out of the seals. In periods of bad weather, this may need to be checked more regularly.
All door hardware should be cleaned regularly. We recommend doing so once a month to preserve their condition.
To clean your handles, letterboxes, knockers, numerals, letters and spy holes, use mildly concentrated hot soapy water and a soft cloth. Take care to gently wipe the surfaces clean and remove any dirt or built-up residue.
Moving parts (such as hinges) should be lubricated twice a year. This procedure is essential if you live in a coastal area.
Keeping your lock in good working order is incredibly important to the door’s function. We recommend that you clean and lubricate the lock every six months or every 5,000 cycles (whichever is sooner) to help maintain the cylinder.
Please do not use general, multi-purpose lubricants. Doing so could invalidate your door’s warranty with your installer.
Instead, we recommend using a specific lock lubricant. Speak with your installer for specific guidance as to which product should be used.
